LANSING, Mich. – Downtown Reading will transform a long vacant building into a vibrant event and gathering space through a new crowdfunding campaign, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and city of Reading announced today. The campaign is being offered through Michigan-based crowdfunding platform patronicity.

Governor Snyder, in 2011, signed into law the Economic Vitality and Incentive Program (EVIP), which changed the way that Revenue Sharing was distributed to local units throughout the state. One of the items necessary to receive EVIP funds required local units of government to make available to the public a performance dashboard or a financial summary of its local finances, including a recognition of its unfunded liabilities.
