CITY OF READING NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PROPOSED VACATION OF SECOND STREET
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Reading City Council will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on August 12, 2025 at 6:30pm at Reading City Hall, 113 S. Main Street, Reading, Michigan 49274, for the purpose of receiving public comment on the proposed vacation of the entirety of Second Street as dedicated in the Plat of Thomas’ Addition to the Village, now City, of Reading, as recorded in Liber 7 of Plats, Page 10, Hillsdale County Records.

The portion of Second Street under consideration has never been improved, developed, or maintained for public use. The proposed vacation is being considered pursuant to Section 7.10(b) of the City Charter of the City of Reading and Section 257 of the Michigan Land Division Act (MCL 560.257).

The public is invited and encouraged to attend this public hearing. If you are unable to attend, but wish to have your comments recognized, you may do so in writing by sending them to the Reading City Clerk, 113 S. Main Street, PO Box 240, Reading, MI 49274. To be recognized, any written comments must be received by the City Clerk/Treasurer no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
