Michigan Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing (PA 281 of 2016) Public Hearing


The City of Reading will hold a hearing regarding the adoption of a proposed ordinance relating to Michigan Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (PA 281 of 2016) AN ACT to license and regulate medical marihuana growers, processors, provisioning centers, secure transporters, and safety compliance facilities; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state and local governmental officers and entities; to create a medical marihuana licensing board; to provide for interaction with the statewide monitoring system for commercial marihuana transactions; to create an advisory panel; to provide immunity from prosecution for marihuana-related offenses for persons engaging in marihuana-related activities in compliance with this act; to prescribe penalties and violations and sanctions and provide remedies; to provide for forfeiture of contraband; to provide for taxes, fees, and assessments; and to require the promulgation of rules. This hearing will be held as a part of the regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 6:30 p.m. in the Reading City Hall, Council Chambers, 113 S. Main Street, Reading, MI 49274.  At this hearing citizens will have the right to provide written and/or oral comments and suggestions pertaining to the proposed ordinance, if you are unable to attend the hearing, but wish to have your comments recognized, you may do so in writing by sending them to the City of Reading, C/o City Clerk/Treasurer at 113 S. 2017 November 14 Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing (PA 281 of 2016) Public Hearing

As a result of Public Act 281 of 2016 by the State Legislature, the Reading City Council can decide if the City should do one of the following: 

A) Adopt an Ordinance to allow one or more of the Medical Marihuana Facilities (Opt-in)

B) Make a Resolution to not allow one or more of the Medical Marihuana Facilities (Opt-out)

C) Choose to do nothing in regards to PA 281 of 2016 (Opt-out)
